Open standards for interoperating agent-based systems

چکیده
rovides an overview of the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) on effort in the area of specifying standards for heterogeneous, interoperating systems. We describe the types of software agents which are of interest to FIPA, by which FIPA members collaborate and produce specifications and also of the specifications that FIPA has produced. Also, we list the available ons of FIPA specifications and applications that use these implementations. escribe the current and future work of FIPA.

Implementing Multi-Agent Systems: Languages, Frameworks, and Standards [Extended Abstract]*
As multi-agent systems research nears the end of its second decade, researchers have moved beyond stand-alone, one-off systems and have begun to create the software infrastructure for quickly creating new, highly interoperable systems. However, the desire for seamless interoperability ("open" systems) brings with it the push to standardize on agent communication languages and related agent serv...
متن کاملThe Role of Standards for Interoperating Information Systems
Copyright © 2000, Idea Group Publishing. INTRODUCTION For integrating heterogeneous information systems, semantic interoperability is necessary to ensure that exchange of information makes sense — that the provider and requester of information have a common understanding of the ‘meaning’ of the requested services and data. Effective exchange of information between heterogeneous systems needs to...
متن کاملA Context Aware Multi-robot Coordination System Based on Agent Technology
This paper presents an approach for multi-robot coordination based both on coordinated navigation and task allocation method. An ad hoc agent based architecture is defined in order to implement the robot control system in both simulation and real applications. The coordination of the multi-robot system is based on agent interaction and negotiation, and a communication infrastructure based on op...
متن کاملOpen Source, Standards and Scaleable Agencies
Numerous agencies and agent systems are being developed or portrayed as vehicles to deliver novel types of e-commerce services to users. However service agents in one agency are probably unable to interoperate or co-operate with agents from other vendors’ agencies. Clearly, standardization in this area would help to create a more ubiquitous market for agent-based services. We analyze the releva...
متن کاملCommunity Standards for Agent Communication
It is obvious that communication is inherently a matter of convention. Each application scenario or domain identifies a community of practice of interacting parties who must define the structure and meaning of their mutual communications so as to interoperate successfully. Specifying the structure formally is conceptually trivial. But a consequence of the autonomy and heterogeneity of the commu...
